Canada has utilized Physician Assistants (PAs) first in the Military in the 1980’s, then Manitoba in 1999, followed by Ontario in 2006. Currently New Brunswick (2008) and Alberta (2009) are developing regulations to oversee PAs and it is anticipated that British Columbia and Nova Scotia will soon see PAs in their Health Care Systems.
